Obituary

Thaddeus A. Baczek, 57, of New Bedford died Monday January 12, 2004 at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston after a long battle with kidney ailments.

Born in Hartford, Conn., the son of the late Tadeusz A. and Sophie (Siwik) Baczek, he had lived in California for many years before moving to New Bedford 10 years ago.

He was a graduate of San Diego High School, had attended San Diego City College, and received a business certificate from Kinyon-Campbell Business School in New Bedford.

Due to a congenital kidney defect, he was not expected to live past the age of 7, but in fact he lived to be 57. He had much strength, courage, and will to survive, and maintained his sense of humor throughout his trying life circumstances.

Mr. Baczek was a classical composer who loved composing music in the style of the Impressionists - Ravel, Debussey and Forey. He also played guitar and violin.

Survivors include a sister, Barbara A. Baczek of Fairfield, Iowa; and 2 nephews, Robert Theodore Wallace and Peter Gareth Wallace, both of Fairfield.

Funeral Services were private.
