Russell, Vera (nee Holimon), age 89, of Teaneck, New Jersey died March 21, 2011. She was born on September 23, 1921 in Asbury Park, New Jersey and was one of six children born to Grace E. and Isaac T. Holimon.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband Sherman Roger Russell; parents Grace E. and Isaac T. Holimon; brothers Theodore and Thomas; sisters Beulah and Gladys and daughter Shirley V. Rhinehart. She is survived by her brother Albert Holimon; grandchildren Lisa Rhinehart Williams, Dawn Rhinehart, Eva Russell, Wayne Barnes; great grandson John Barber and a host of nieces and nephews.
Vera was a graduate of Asbury Park High School (Asbury Park, NJ), Holy Name Hospital School of Nursing (Teaneck, NJ) and Jersey City State College (Jersey City, NJ). Vera moved to Teaneck, New Jersey in the mid 50s and was employed as the head nurse in Holy Name Hospital’s Labor and Delivery unit for over 20 years. She was the treasurer of the Holy Name Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association for several years and an active member of the Unity Church of Christ in Teaneck.
Friends and family are invited for visitation at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, NJ on Friday from 10AM – 12PM. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 12PM. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ.
