FALL RIVER…. Emma (Paul) Morrissette, 89 of Fall River passed away on March 17, 2011. She was the wife of the late Joseph K. Morrissette. Born in Fall River Emma was the daughter of the late Dorila and Rose A. (Dumont) Paul. Emma lived a life driven by her vibrant character and independent nature. Until her passing she could be seen driving her red sports car around the city, wearing a carefully chosen outfit.
Throughout her life Emma worked and volunteered for several organizations. During World War II she served her country as a welder at the Walsh Keiser shipyard of Rhode Island. She also worked at several different companies in the Fall River garment industry as well. A woman ahead of her time; Emma was an entrepreneur, owning and operating Paul’s Flower Shop on Pleasant St. throughout the fifties and sixties. In 1955 she was voted Den Mother of The Year representing the Notre Dame School Pack 15. She had a passion for volleyball and played on the Fall River YMCA’s women’s team, earning numerous New England titles and an invitation to the Olympic Trials.
In recent years, Emma enjoyed spending weekends visiting her family. She had an energetic spirit and enjoyed playing games and dolls with her Great- Grandchildren.
Emma leaves one son, Paul Morrissette of Westport and daughter-in-law Carmen Morrissette, three granddaughters, Christine Wells, Karen Tajali, and Paula Stanton, four Great-Grandchildren, Mason, Madeline, Liam and Hana with a fifth on the way. She also leaves several nieces and nephews including Charlie Alty of Dover, New Hampshire: a beloved nephew with whom she had a very close and special lifelong relationship. She was the sister of the late Beatrice Alty, Irene Mulgrew, Stella Enos, Normand Paul James Paul and Arthur Paul.
The family matriarch she has been and will continue to be a source of Pride and inspiration to us. She was well loved and will be sorely missed. At her request there will be a private family service at Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or donations, your kind thoughts are appreciated. Arrangements by South Coast Funeral Home.
