H. Trevor Williams, 83, of Windham, NH, died Sunday March 20, 2011, in the Salem Haven Nursing Home, Salem, NH. He was born in Wales, UK on March 15, 1928, a son of the late John and Jessie (Edwards) Williams and had been a resident of Windham for the past three years, formerly living in Derry, NH for 23 years. Mr. Williams grew up in a farming family and that spawned his love for mechanically restoring old engines and tractors. He was a talented musician and multi-instrumentalist. Singing, playing his instruments and listening to country and western music brought great joy into his life. After 36 years in Canada where he worked as a mechanic he moved to Andover, MA and became a diesel mechanic, working on hospital back-up generators and commercial fishing boats. He was also a member of the First Congregational Church in Methuen, MA.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years; Betty (Saunders) Williams of Windham; two sons; Daniel Williams and his wife Melissa of Concord, NH, Brent Williams of Somersworth, NH; two daughters; Ruth WilliamsHunt and her husband K.C. of Burke, VA and Megan Thayer of Salem, a daughter in law: Sandra Williams of Hampton, NH, 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son; David Williams, four brothers and two sisters.
Following cremation, a calling hour was held on Thursday, March 24, 2011 from 10:00am until the 11:00am funeral service in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salem NH Senior Center, 1 Sally Sweet Way, Salem, NH 03079 or to the Salem Haven Nursing Home Activities Fund, 23 Geremonty Dr., Salem, NH 03079.
