In Boston, March 20, 2011, of Raynham Edward L. Carnes husband of Katherine (Wentworth) Carnes died at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston at the age of 80. Born in Raynham, Edward was the son of the late Edward L. and Arlene (Farrell) Carnes Sr. Edward was a graduate of Taunton High School and was in the National Guard for over thirteen years. He was a self employed master carpenter and was the north east representative for Alta Log Homes; he was also an on call fireman for the town of Raynham. Edward organized the first fireman’s ball in the 1950’s to raise money for the first fire chief’s car. He was a life member of the Hanson Gun and Rod Club in Hanson, Ma. Edward loved his 1943 GPW WWII jeep and his dogs Dot and Natalie. He was the father of Mary Hazen of Taunton, Debbie Marotte of Taunton, Edward L. Carnes III and his wife Anita of Raynham, step daughter Lisa Thurber and her husband Charles of Rehoboth and the late John Carnes and Patricia Bosquin. Grandfather of many grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Mary Marsh. Funeral from the O’Keefe-Wade Funeral Home, 70 Washington Street in Taunton Thursday, March 24th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass will be at St. Ann’s Church in Raynham at 9 AM. Calling hours will be held on Wed from 5-7 PM. Interment Pleasant Street Cemetery in Raynham.
