Obituary

Harold B. Pittsley, 76, of New Bedford died March 18, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
He was the husband of Shirley M. (Lackey) Pittsley.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Clarence and Maria (Phillips) Pittsley, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Pittsley served as a combat engineer in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Andrews-Dahill Post 1531.
Survivors include his wife; 4 daughters, Judith Tavares, Elizabeth Bernier and her husband Rick and Carol Ann Arruda and her husband Steven, all of New Bedford and Robin Pittsley Benton and her husband Dave of Fairhaven; a brother, Rufus Pittsley and his wife Virginia of Tewksbury; a sister, Patricia Gemaly of Somerville; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Arthur, Morris, Clarence, Ruth, Rachel, George, Abigail, Florence and Agnes.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 22nd at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Acushnet Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, March 21st from 4-8 PM.
