Marjorie Stulce, Retired Public School Nurse (Age 87)
On Friday March 11, 2011. Marjorie Stulce formerly of Wellesley MA passed away at Saint Patrick’s Manor in Framingham MA after prolonged illness. Born in 1923, the seventh daughter of Eugene and Katherine Sutherland, Marjorie grew up in an atmosphere of compassion and strong family values.
She attended Brown University and later transferred to Newton School of Nursing where she graduated in 1943. Married to her high school sweetheart Edmund J. Stulce, a naval aviator and father to her two sons, who was tragically killed in a domestic air accident in 1953 after honorable and highly decorated service in both WWII and the Korean War. Together with the close family ties with her sisters families and an abiding spiritual faith she raised her two boys on her own.
Marjorie enjoyed a full career as a school nurse in the Wellesley public system, a position which allowed her to attend to the needs of a varied population of children inclusive of elementary, junior, and senior high students. Along with her duties in nursing she was an active member of the Wellesley Village Congregational Church serving as secretary and deacon at different times. Her strong skills and service to others were again, the hallmark of all undertakings.
Family life was characterized by a fortunate combination of everything she had learned growing up in a large family and the spiritual virtues acquired in her public/professional one. Throughout her life everyone she came in contact with came away with an appreciation for her steadfast love and affection in her conduct as an aunt, a friend, and as a mother.
Beloved by all she is survived by her two sons, Peter E. Stulce of Watertown MA. and Dana M. Stulce and his wife Gayla of Virginia Beach, Virginia, as well as many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held in the Burt Chapel at the Wellesley Village Congregational Church, 2 Central St. Wellesley Square, on the 9th of April at 2:00PM.
