...Tewksbury mother of ten; 96
TEWKSBURY - Mildred R. (Dwyer) (Hall) Pace, age 96, the matriarch of a family of ten, died peacefully on Friday, March 18, surrounded by her family at the Wingate at Belvidere in Lowell, following a long period of declining health. She was the wife of William S. Pace who died in 1962, and was later married to Henry M. Hall, who died in 1999.
She was born in East Boston, August 23, 1914, one of ten children of the late Pierce and Mary (Martin) Dwyer, and was raised in East Boston. She moved her family to Tewksbury in 1946, and settled on Pace Road.
She was a Gold Star Mother, who gave up her son Robert on December 30, 1944 in the Philippines.
She was active at St. Dorothy's Church in Wilmington, and was a former member of St. Dorothy's Ladies Sodality. In her later years, she was active at the Tewksbury Senior Drop-In Center, where she was well known for her dancing skills and boundless energy. She was also a member of the Tewksbury G.A.C. She will be remembered for her sparkling smile, quick wit, and inner warmth that radiated from her heart.
She leaves her children, Margaret "Peggy" Celata, formerly of East Boston, with whom she shared a room at Wingate, William Pace of Topsfield, Carl Pace of No. Billerica, Mary Lou and her husband David Allen of Chelmsford, Joseph Pace and his wife Nancy (Fiedler) of No. Andover, M. Roberta Deputat and her husband John of Tewksbury, Kathleen Jasilewicz and her husband Michael of Tewksbury; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy (Riddle) Pace of Naples, FL; a sister, Dorothy Talley and her husband Ollie of OR; twenty five grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides Robert, she was also mother of the late Rose Marie Wallace, B. James Pace; sister of the late Raymond Dwyer, Gertrude Borowy, Pauline Bailes, Florence Visico, Mary "May" Flynn, Irene O'Hare, Leonard Dwyer, Margaret "Peggy" Gaudette; and great grandmother of the late Michael Pace.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Monday, Mar. 21, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial followed at Tewksbury Cemetery.
