HAVERHILL: Emma R. (Passaretti) Haddad, 94, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 in the Wingate Nursing Home in Haverhill. She was the wife of the late James G. Haddad, Sr.
Born in Lawrence on July 18, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Carmine and Antoinetta (Ranucci) Passaretti. She attended Lawrence public schools and was a graduate of Lawrence High School. She had resided in Lawrence for many years before moving to Haverhill when she got married.
Emma worked alongside her husband who owned the former Jimmy’s Market on Merrimack Street for many years. She also once worked as a clerk at the Fannie Farmer Candy Store and the former Candy Factory Outlet. As a young girl, she was a member of a Glee Club and loved to sing around the house. A great Italian cook, she loved entertaining for her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Janice Haddad of Haverhill; four sons, George and his wife, Satoko Haddad of Fountain Valley, CA, Charles Haddad of Haverhill, James and his wife, Helen Haddad of Anaheim Hills, CA and William Haddad of Litchfield, NH; two grandchildren, Tasha and her husband, Sean Hughes of Litchfield, NH and Kurt Haddad and his fiancée, Krystal Dunn of Boulder, CO and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her brother, Anthony Passaretti.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday in the St. James Church, 161 Winter St., Haverhill at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held Sunday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill, from 2 – 5 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Interment will be held in the United Lebanese Cemetery, Lawrence.
