Charles Norman “Chuck” Gelinas died at the age of 68 at his home in Westport, MA alongside his longtime companion Dirkje “Dixie” Wade on March 17, 2011 from a long battle with cancer.

Our beloved Chuck was born in Fall River on February 12, 1943 to his parents, Janet Peterson and Norman Gelinas both deceased. He was a proud veteran. At the age of 19 he was deployed to Southeast Asia and served two tours in the Vietnam War. He was a dedicated employee of the Department of Mental Health for 18 years at the Taunton State Hospital.

Chuck was a strong, honorable and proud man. He had a flare of humor and quick comebacks that left everyone he encountered with a smile. He was passionate about history and enjoyed finding treasureable antiques. He is survived by his beloved partner whom he always referred to as “Dixie Baby.” He also leaves behind his aunt Ellen McCloskey, Uncle Harry, cousin Susan Cestodio, step-children and grandchildren, along with relatives and friends.
