John S. Mattson, died Wednesday unexpectedly at home, he was 57. John was born in Stoneham, cherished son of Carl E. Mattson, Sr. of Tewksbury and the late Aurora (Kazanjian). Raised in Somerville he graduated from Somerville High School. John enjoyed sports and not only followed all the local teams, but many national league teams as well. He also enjoyed traveling and vacationing in Florida, and had a trip planned for the coming days.
He was a well loved man. No matter who you were to him, be it his love, his son, sibling, uncle, friend or total stranger, John treated you with kindness, deep thoughtfulness and generosity. He noticed the details that made you happy and went out of his way to provide them.
Anyone who knew John, knew he loved his sports and the camaraderie that came along with enjoying a good game with friends. Nobody has ever met a luckier man than John, and anyone who ever knew John was truly lucky.

Beloved brother of Carl E. Mattson, Jr. and his partner Clair Sullivan, James Mattson all of Tewksbury, Steve Mattson and his wife Sue of Manchester, NH.
Loving uncle of Chrissy & Jen Mattson, great uncle of Miranda Mattson.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Sunday 4-8.
