Mr. Robert H. Risdon, of Medford and beloved husband of the late Theresa F. (Condon) Risdon, died at his home on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. He was 89 years old.
Born in Stoneham, Massachusetts, on January 17, 1922, he was the beloved son of the late Silas F. and Marion (Hoyt) Risdon.
Mr. Risdon was a WWII Army veteran, entering the military on October 13, 1943 and receiving his honorable discharge from Fort Devens on February 26, 1946. While in the service, Mr. Risdon worked as a Radio Operator and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Victory Medal for his outstanding service. In civilian life, Mr. Risdon worked as the manager of Highland Auto Parts for many years.
He will be sorely missed by his loving son; Thomas W. Risdon of Medford, sister: Marion Roberts of Concord, grandchildren; Michael Risdon of Texas, Robert Risdon of Everett and Lisa Risdon of Woburn, great-grandchildren; Mason, Rileyfaye, Alana, Cecelia and Sienna and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late John R. Risdon and James J. Risdon.
His funeral service was celebrated in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 9 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended.
