Donnie Ray Barnes, 55, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M., Saturday, March 19 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewain Joiner officiating. The family will receive friends from noon on Saturday until the funeral hour.
Mr. Barnes was born September 18, 1955 in Ocilla to Evelyn Brown Barnes and the late Amos Barnes. He lived in Fitzgerald all of his life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1973. Mr. Barnes was a former employee of Modern Fibers and Shaw Industries. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved to fish. Mr. Barnes attended the Ocilla Church Of God.
Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife of 33 years: Patty Foster Barnes of Fitzgerald; son: Michael Durand Barnes of Fitzgerald; daughter & son-in-law: Pamela & Rusty Hardee of Screven; 8 grandchildren; mother: Evelyn Barnes of Fitzgerald; brothers and sisters-in-law: Herman & Elaine Barnes of Fitzgerald, Larry & Joyce Barnes of Cordele and Roger Barnes of Stuart, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law: Shirley & Alan Weichbrodt of Los Angeles, CA and Brinda & Steve Fuller of Mystic, brother-in-law: Edward Waller of Fitzgerald, as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with his father, he was preceded in death by a sister.
