Obituary

LOWELL: Ruth E. Palmer, age 92, a resident of Dennis Port since 1975, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the D'Youville Senior Care Center in Lowell.
Born in Boston on January 24, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Frank Palmer and the late Louise (Haley) Palmer.
Miss Palmer was raised in Somerville, attended Somerville schools and graduated from Somerville High School. Following graduation, she attended Boston Clerical school, Hickox Secretarial College and Boston College.
Ruth resided in Somerville and Arlington until moving to Dennis Port.
Prior to her retirement in 1987, she was employed as the executive assistant to the president at Intra Import Trade Co., where she worked for 20 years. Ruth previously worked for Rust Craft Company for 18 years.
Ruth was a member of the Holy Trinity Parish in West Harwich, where she sat in adoration in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel every Friday for many years.
Ruth enjoyed skiing, traveling to Ireland, bird feeding and watching, a round of golf, and walking on the beach.
She is survived by one brother, Richard Palmer of Newport Ritchie, FL; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Ruth was the sister of the late Robert Palmer, Marion Duncan, Arlene Burns, Alice McIntyre, and Rita Usher.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 19, from 9-11 a.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury, to be followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m., at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment services will be held on Monday, March 21, at 11:00 a.m., at Mount Calvary Cemetery,366 Cummins Highway, Roslindale. Donations in her memory may be made to Greater Lowell V.N.A.-Hospice, 336 Central St., Lowell, MA 01852.
