Obituary

New Bedford – Elizabeth C. “Betty” (Radcliffe) Clark, 97, of New Bedford died March 14, 2011 at The Oaks. She was the widow of Thomas Hilliard Clark, Jr.

Mrs. Clark was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Wilfred and Janet K. (Thomson) Radcliffe, and resided in New Bedford, E. Freetown and Acushnet. She was a member of the Acushnet-Wesley United Methodist Church where she was active in and past president of the United Methodist Women. She graduated from New Bedford High School, class of 1932. Until her retirement in 1974, she was employed by Acushnet Company, Rubber Division and served as president of the Inspection Department Retirees for 22 years. She was a member and past president of AARP, Central New Bedford Chapter 1945; a member of the New Bedford Animal Rescue League, the Freetown Historical Society, the Acushnet Historical Society, the New Bedford Glass Society and the Eva Booth Club of the Salvation Army. Her interests included environmental concerns and preservation of wildlife. Mrs. Clark had much love for her neighborhood children and their families.

Survivors include her daughter: Anne Clark Burkhardt; a grandson: David E. Burkhardt and his wife Gail; and a great-grandson: Samuel Burkhardt, all of Minneapolis, MN.

She was sister of the late Winifred Ogden of East Freetown.

Visitation on Friday, March 18, 2011, 10:00-11:00 A.M.

Funeral services On Friday, March 18, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Kirby Funeral Home.

Interment in Chace Cemetery, E. Freetown.
