Mozelle McDowell Campbell, age 85, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born August 15, 1925 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Jack McDowell and Gillie McCrickard McDowell. She lived the earlier part of her life in Climax, Virginia and the remainder in Danville. She and her husband, the late Carl Jefferson Campbell, owned and operated Aaron Tarpley Dry Cleaners. Mrs. Campbell was a member of Rivermont Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter: Penny C. Cummings and her husband Scott of Odenton, Maryland; one brother: Henry Herman McDowell of Danville; three grandchildren: Andrele Cummings, Samantha C. Nehl and her husband Jake, and Katherine C. Sherald and her husband Patrick.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four sisters, Avis Tinsley, Bernice Handy, Inez Blalock, and Leonie McDowell, and by four brothers, Onyx McDowell, Carroll McDowell, Chalmers McDowell, and Wilton McDowell.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Wayne Johnson will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mausoleum at Danville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends there from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
