Oxford - Miss Katherine T. Mellom, 96, passed away in the Sandalwood Nursing Home, Monday, March 14, 2011. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Elizabeth (Collins) and Edward J. Mellom Sr. She was predeceased by her brother Edward Mellom, Jr.
Katherine lived in Worcester for most of her life. She was a graduate of Commerce High School and a member of St. Bernard's Parish. Katherine's work as a government agency secretary took her to many different states throughout her 34-year career. She also used her clerical skills as a long-time volunteer at Hahnemann Hospital in Worcester. Katherine enjoyed crossword puzzles and astrology. She is survived by her niece and caregiver, Joan Green as well as many other nieces and nephews and their families.
Calling hours at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, 5 - 7 pm, Thursday, March 17. Services from Nordgren Memorial Chapel with a 10 o'clock Mass in St. Bernard's Parish, 228 Lincoln Street, Worcester on Friday, March 18. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery.
