Mary B. Dillon, a lifelong Woburn resident passed away March 12th at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston following a short illness. She was 86 years of age. Mary was the beloved wife of the late John M. Dillon Sr. Born in Woburn on October 13, 1924 she was one of five children of the late Mary K. (Duran) and Frederick L. Callahan.
Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was the primary focus of her life. She enjoyed and cherished spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. As a young lady, Mary worked for several years as a secretary at the 1st Boston Brokerage Firm. Later in life Mary also worked for a number of years at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center where she was an office worker. Mary's faith and devotion to her church was very strong and she enjoyed volunteering at St. Charles Church over the years. In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting, cooking for family and friends or just sitting back and reading a good book.
In addition to her late husband and parents, Mary is predeceased by her brothers, the late Daniel Callahan and Frederick Callahan Jr. She is lovingly survived by her children, John M. Dillon Jr. and wife Katherine of Billerica, James G. Dillon and wife Patricia of Woburn, Jay T. Dillon and his wife Carol of Billerica, Jeffrey P. Dillon and wife Elizabeth of Woburn, Joan E. Wojtas and husband Charles of Chelmsford. She was the loving grandmother of John M. III, Patrick, Jayme, Joseph, Jonathan, Jay Thomas, Shawn and Courtney Dillon. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Liam and Aiden Dillon and was the cherished sister of Elizabeth Marvin and Joan Snider, both of New Hampshire. She is further survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Wednesday, March 16th, at 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home will be Tuesday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Calvary Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mary's memory to St. Charles Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, MA 01801.
