W. Wayne Dickson, 70, of Fitzgerald, died Friday, March 11, 2011 at the Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2 P.M., Monday, March 14, 2011 at Crossview Baptist Church with the Rev. Sonny Pate officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Dickson was born July 3, 1940 in Fitzgerald to the late Roy E. and Mary Evelyn “Teeny” Perdue Dickson. He graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1958, attended South Georgia College and graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in accounting. He had worked in Atlanta as a CPA before moving back to Fitzgerald, where he taught accounting at Ben Hill-Irwin Tech. Mr. Dickson was a member of the Crossview Baptist Church and a former member of the Georgia National Guard.
He is survived by two daughters: Melissa Ann “Missy” Duval of Hahira and Rebecca Lynn “Becky” & Tarry Giddens of Fitzgerald; son: Michael Andrew “Andy” Dickson of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Savannah Dickson of Valdosta, Carrie & Robert Taylor, III of Fitzgerald, and Spencer Duval of Hahira; great-grandson: Robert W. “Cade” Taylor, IV of Fitzgerald; and sister: Ginger Dickson of Atlanta.
