Beatrice E. (Allen) Downs, 100, of Methuen, passed away on March 10, 2011.
Beatrice was the daughter of the late James Allen and Eunice (Parker) Allen. Beatrice worked for Ayer Mills in Lawrence until she retired to be a housekeeper. She was also the wife of the late Perry F. Downs who passed away in 2003 and mother to her two late sons, Calvin G. Downs, formerly of Dracut and David L. Downs, formerly of Methuen. She also leaves 2 daughters-in-law, Laura Downs of Dracut and Janice Downs of Methuen, with whom she lived, 3 grandsons, Gary and his wife Anita Downs of Lowell, MA, Michael and his wife Sandra Downs of CT and FL and Scott Downs of Derry, NH and Jim Duffen of NH, who was like a grandson to her, 5 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
At Beatrice’s request, there will be no calling hours and services are private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley, 360 Merrimack St., Lawrence, MA 01841 or to a charity of one’s choice.
