Obituary

Webster – Thomas P. Mallett Sr., 61, of Webster and formerly of Worcester died on March 8th in the Oakwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after an illness.

He is survived by a daughter Lisa M. Mallett-Hatheway of Webster; two sons Thomas P. Mallett Jr. of Chicago, IL and Jamie F. Mallett of Worcester; five brothers Edward, Francis, Raymand Donald and Anthony Mallett all of Worcester; three sisters Louise Gilbert, Linda Booker and Viola Rodriguez all of Worcester; 11 grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.

Thomas was born in Worcester son of the late George and Dorothy (Tebo) Mallett and is predeceased by two brothers Albert and George Mallett.

Mr. Mallett is a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marine Corps. he was awarded a Purple Heart, a Combat Service Ribbon and a Rifle Marksman Award.

He was a Golden Gloves Boxer in the city of Worcester and also received a key to the City of Worcester for his bravery when he jumped into an ice covered Lake Quinsigamond to save 2 people from drowning in 1985.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 14th from 5 to 7:30 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond St. Worcester. A funeral service will follow at 7:30 in the funeral home. Burial will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, March 15th in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Memorial contributions may be made to the Massachusetts Shelter for Veterans 69 Grove Street Worcester, MA 01605.
