Helen “Luneal” Poole Harvey, 70, of Tifton died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Tallahassee Memorial Health Care in Tallahassee, Florida. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, 2011 in the Sanctuary of Tifton’s First Baptist Church. Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Jack Whitehead, Jack Smith, Vic Vickers, Bill Johnson, Wright Crosby and Tommy Smallwood will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Joy Sunday school class of Tifton’s First Baptist Church, Jackie Whitehead, Faye Troxell, Barbara Johnson, Doris Cowart, Jane Young, Merle Smallwood, Julia Bowman, Sara Womack, Jeannette Boyd, Ann Herzog, Glenda Johnson, Joan Newberry, Karen Smith, Martha Matulich, Linda Connell and Sue Perry. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 13, 2011, at the sanctuary of Tifton’s First Baptist Church from 3:00 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Mrs. Harvey was born on July 10, 1940 in Ideal and was the daughter of Clovis Poole and Annie Lou Parks Poole, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Chasteen Poole; and one sister, Clara Brown. She was a retired para-professional with Tift County Schools and a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Joy Sunday school class and a dedicated food committee member. She helped deliver food for Meals on Wheels and was an avid bridge player.
Mrs. Harvey is survived by her husband, Charles Walter Harvey of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Lynn Harvey of Memphis, Tennessee; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Herby Benson of Tifton and April and Mel Johnson of Tifton; and two sisters and one brother-in-law, Lottie Dorsey of Macon and Annette and Bob Hammond of Tifton. Her greatest joy came from being “Nana” to her five grandsons, Chance Benson, Briggs Benson, Tanner Johnson, Landon Johnson and Reese Johnson.
