Jean L. (Cassidy) McNamara, 78, died on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at the Meadows at Edgewood Nursing Center in North Andover, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on March 4, 1933, in Lawrence, Jean was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Duggan) Cassidy. Jean was raised on Prospect Hill in Lawrence. She graduated from Lawrence High School and McIntosh Business School.
Jean was a loving wife, mother and grandmother “Nana”, whose life was devoted to caring for her home and her family. She will always be remembered for her strength and determination, especially during ill health. She enjoyed vacationing at the beach, traveling and spending time with her family. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick Parish in Lawrence and was a member of the St. Patrick Ladies Sodality.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, John J. McNamara, daughters; Ruth Ann McNamara Reddy of Hampton, New Hampshire and Ellen McNamara Reusch and her fiance John Belko, Sr. of North Andover, beloved grandchildren; Caitlin and her husband Jedd Canane of Methuen, Nicholas Reusch of North Andover, Meghan Reddy of Hampstead, New Hampshire and Erin Reddy of Boston and several nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her son Joseph and her two sisters Anne Melkonian and Constance Hargreaues.
Her funeral mass was celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 114 South Broadway, Lawrence, Monday, March 14, 2011, at 11 AM. Many relatives and friends respectfully attended. Calling hours were held in the Burke-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 390 North Main Street, Andover, Sunday, March 13, 2011, from 4 to 8 PM. Burial was in St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery in Lawrence.
