DEACON JOHN SIMMONS, 57, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011.
He was Chaplain for Hazelwood Center and former Deacon at Most Blessed Sacrament. He was very proud of being totally Catholic educated having attended St. Matthias School, Bishop David High School, Spalding University and St. Meinrad Seminary.
He was preceded in death by his father, Winford Preston Simmons.
He is survived by his wife, Claudette (Keeton) Simmons; daughter, Sarah Simmons; mother, Helen Simmons; brother, David Simmons (Judie); sisters, Nancy Spriggs (Earl) and Margaret Parsons (George); many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; a large extended family and many friends.
His service will be 11am Saturday at St. Peter the Apostle, 7718 Columbine Dr., with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday 12noon-8pm at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway.
