Obituary

Earl F. Burns, 93, of Lawrence, MA, passed away on Tuesday March 8th, 2011 at the Bedford VA Hospital in Bedford, MA.

Earl was born, raised and educated in Eva, OK. He served with the United States Army during WWII as a Tech Sergeant. Earl worked for the US Postal Service for over 30 years prior to his retirement. After his retirement from the USPS, he worked at Lawrence General Hospital for 10 years as a security guard. Earl was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church of the Merrimack Valley in Lawrence. He was also a Mason with the United Lodge of Lawrence and a member of the Shriners. Those who knew Earl will remember his contagious sense of humor and his love of life. He most enjoyed the time spent with his many grandchildren and all his family. He will be dearly missed by all that had the privilege of knowing him.

Earl leaves his loving wife, Adelaide (Hildebrand) Burns of Lawrence, his four daughters, Dorothy J. Burns of Lawrence, Katherine Burns of Haverhill, Kory L. Betz of New Bedford, MA and Christine Munoz and her husband David of Haverhill, 8 sons, Edward E. Burns of San Francisco, CA, Richard Burns and his wife Susan of Haverhill, Robert Burns of Davie, FL, Andrew Burns and his wife Karen of Haverhill, David C. Burns and his wife Marsha of Salem, NH, Daniel E. Burns of San Francisco, CA, Kreg Burns and his wife Jill of Hampton, NH and James A. Burns of Lawrence, a brother, Melvin Burns and his wife Barbara of Texhoma, OK, a sister, Geneva Clark and her husband Irving of Camdenton, MO, 21 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Friday, March 11, 2011 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Methuen. A Masonic Service will take place at 7 p.m. that evening. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
