Obituary

Amerigo P. Lucia died Monday in the Winchester Nursing Care Center where he was a resident for nearly 16 years. He would have celebrated his 100th birthday this coming August. Amerigo was born in Boston, son of the late Vincenzo "James" and Concetta (Cipri) Lucia.
Graduating from Woburn High School, he went on to work for Mass Gear & Tool during WWII where he aided the war effort by building parts and machines. He would then go on to join his brothers Al and Ernie in operating Lucia's Market on Main Street in Woburn Square. The brothers would operate the business until their collective retirement in 1985.

Amerigo was an avid sports fan, particularly enjoying the Boston Red Sox. He traveled every year to Fort Myers to be there for spring training. He led a simple life and most enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his brother Albert Lucia and his wife Esther of Winchester and sister in law Ruth Lucia of Woburn. He was predeceased by his siblings Marie Gagliomella, Eleanor Mullaney, Edith Ciarfella, Amadeo, Guy, Angelo and Ernest Lucia. Cherished “Uncle Moe” to several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will conducted in the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant Street WOBURN, Saturday at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family prior to the service from 10 AM – 11AM.

Services will conclude with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Amerigo’s name to the Resident’s Activity Fund at the Winchester Nursing Care Center, 223 Swanton Street Winchester, MA 01890.
