New Bedford – Manuel Costa, age 90 years, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011 at Brandon Woods of Dartmouth. He was the beloved husband of Pearl (DeMello) Costa of Dartmouth, they had been married 69 years. Mr. Costa was the loved brother of Beatrice Gracia of Dartmouth and Natalie Correia of Virginia . He was also survived by several nieces, nephews, and godchildren. Manuel was the brother of the late Raymond and Louis Costa.
Mr. Costa was the son of the late Mary (Ventura) and Louis Costa. He was born in New Bedford and has lived in Darmouth most his life. Mr. Costa was employed as a supervisor at Goodyear Tire and Rubber. He was a volunteer with the Dartmouth Fire Department for 48 years, and was a member of the Holy Ghost Society of Horseneck.
Mr. Costa’s funeral will be from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St. on Friday at 9:30 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday from 5 - 8 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
