Helen F. Doughty, 98, of Londonderry, NH, died Monday, March 7, 2011, in the Maple Leaf Health Care Center, Manchester, NH. She was born in Bridgeport, CT on August 2, 1912, a daughter of the late Harry and Margaret (Roxby) Fitzgerald. She had been a resident of Londonderry for the past two years, formerly living in Huntington and Canton, CT. Mrs. Doughty grew up in Bridgeport and Stratford, CT and had lived at the Taft School in Watertown, CT where her husband, Duane, worked as an accountant and teacher. She worked for over 15 years managing the coffee and gift shop in the Bridgeport Hospital. Mrs. Doughty enjoyed volunteering and was on the women's volunteer staff at the Bridgeport Hospital. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crafting and was a proud and avid NY Yankee fan.
She is survived by her daughter; Deborah T. Sibley of Londonderry, a step-son; Robert Doughty, 12 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband; Duane Totten, her second husband, Frank Doughty, her son; Duane Totten, Jr., a daughter; Sally Schlatter and a sister; Dorothy Oleynik.
Following cremation the family will hold private graveside services in the spring in the Evergreen Cemetery, Watertown, CT. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01710. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Derry, NH is handling the arrangements.
