Dorothy Ludwick Shotwell, age 75, of 3845 Mount Cross Road, Danville, went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, March 7, 2011 in Danville Regional Medical Center.
She will be deeply missed by her family, to whom she was a very loving mother and grandmother.
Born April 28, 1935 in Ringgold, she was the daughter of the late George Thomas Ludwick and Bernice Ball Ludwick. She lived her life in Danville and worked at the former Colonial Food and Big Star grocery stores, where she enjoyed the many friends she made. Mrs. Shotwell was a member of Sandy Shores Baptist Church. Her husband, Joseph Chandler Shotwell, predeceased her.
Survivors include three daughters: Melissa S. Jennings of Danville, Kelly Paige Shotwell and her fiancé Michael Capps of Bullock, NC, Robin S. Crutchfield and her husband Michael of Danville; three sisters: Jean Talley and Shirley Scearce, both of Danville, and Peggy Mowery of Delaware; four grandchildren: Joshua Jennings, Justin Jennings, Renee Crutchfield and Sarah Crutchfield. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Donna Loray Shotwell, one grandchild, Christie Leigh Guill, two brothers, George Thomas Ludwick and Louis B. Ludwick, and two sisters, Margaret L. Lee and Ann Honeycutt.
Funeral services officiated by Rev. Billy Scearce and Rev. Walter Yancey will be held on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 2 p.m. at the Swicegood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday. At other times, they will be at the residence, 3845 Mount Cross Road, Danville.
