Obituary

Joseph Micale, 86, passed away at home in Malden on March 5th, 2011. He was born in Boston on August 1st, 1924. Joseph was raised and educated in the West End of Boston. He has been a resident of Malden for the past 57 years. For many years, he worked as a master carpenter for the United States Naval Shipyard in Charlestown. He worked on the original restoration of the famed Ship “Constitution” and was given an award for his service which was made out of one of the original planks used to make the Constitution. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Stoneham and has been a long-time parishioner and usher at Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden. He is survived by his son-in-law Thomas Strike of Londonderry, NH; by his grandchildren Brian, Thomas and Kelly; and by his great grandchildren Erin, Kiera and Evan. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by his wife Lucy (Vermiglio) Micale and by his daughters Sandra Strike and Patricia Micale. Relatives & friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Thursday March 10th at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 9 AM. Interment is private. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday March 9th from 4-7 PM.
