Ophelia DiSalvo, 98, passed away on March 5th, 2011. She was born in Italy on September 4th, 1912 to her parents Henry and Carmella (Contestabile) Lalli. Ophelia immigrated to this country at the age of 12. She lived in Columbus, Ohio for many years before settling in Somerville. She was a resident of Somerville for over 60 years and has been a resident of Medford for several years. Ophelia worked as a ticket maker and fashion model for the Berkshire Apparel Company in Malden for over 20 years. She was a former parishioner at St. Polycarp Parish in Somerville, St. James Parish in Medford and is currently a parishioner at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Medford. She was a homemaker who also enjoyed cooking and traveling to several destinations over the years. She is survived by her children; Dolores Saia and her husband John of Stoneham and Diana DiSalvo of Medford. Along with her parents, Ophelia was predeceased by her husband Nicholas DiSalvo and by her sister Bice DiGiovanni. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Thursday March 10th at 9:15 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West at 10 AM. Services will conclude with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday March 9th from 4-7 PM.
