Charles F. Murphy, 95

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Charles F. Murphy, of Mansfield, formerly of Quincy and Dorchester, passed away on his 95th birthday, Monday March 7, 2011 at Willow Crossing in Mansfield.
Born in Boston, MA on March 7, 1916, he was a dear son of the late Charles F. and Elizabeth M. (Sullivan) Murphy.
Charlie grew up in the Dorchester section of Boston and was educated in Boston Public Schools. He later attended Boston University.
During WWII he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on September 26, 1945 with the rank of Tec3.
Following his military service, he returned to college and was a graduate of the Suffolk University Law School.
A retired Attorney, Mr. Murphy spent his entire career practicing law with the Industrial Accident Board of Massachusetts, his final position as General Council
Charlie had made his home at Willow Crossing in Mansfield for the past 1 ½ years and had formerly resided in Quincy for 17 years. He was an avid student of history and enjoyed reading, traveling and attending family gatherings.. One of his favorite pastimes was dining out for lunch at local deli’s and he will be fondly remembered as a well known fixture at Barry’s, in the Wollaston section of Quincy.
Mr. Murphy is survived by numerous cousins including Martha M. Campbell of Auburndale as well as his beloved friend of 50 years, Sandra Agostino of Mansfield and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom in their hearts he will always be remembered as “Uncle Charlie”
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Thursday March 10th at 8:00 A.M. from the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Mount Cavalry Cemetery, Roslindale.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday March 9th from 4-7 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
