Mary E. “Mae” (Duggan) Bennett of Franklin, died Saturday, March 5, 2011 at the Maples Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Wrentham. She was the wife of Charles H. Bennett Jr. who died in 1985.
Born in Providence, RI, she was a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Maloney) Duggan.
Mrs. Bennett was a resident of Franklin since 1965. She grew up in Providence and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and Rhode Island School of Design.
A homemaker most of her life, Mrs. Bennett had worked part-time at the Franklin Town Hall and had volunteered at Norwood Hospital.
She was a member of the Alden Club and was an avid bridge player.
She is survived by three sons, Michael C. Bennett and his wife Joanne of Sudbury, Stephen C. Bennett of Franklin and David M. Bennett and his wife Mary-Regina of Franklin and two grandchildren Katherine and Patrick Bennett.
She was the sister of the late Claire Almeida and Nancy Lange.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Thursday, March 10 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) at 9:15 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Franklin at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m.
