Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Dr. Thomas A. Cordima, 74, of Lanesville, formerly of Ipswich, passed away peacefully Friday March 4, 2011, surrounded by family at the Kaplan Family Hospice House, Danvers following an extended illness. He was the longtime companion of Deborah C. Coull.
In addition to Deborah, he is survived by his former wife, Jacquelyn Cordima, and their children and spouses; Keri Cordima MacRae and Glenn MacRae, Dr. Christopher Cordima and Robin (Lesser) Cordima, Kevin Cordima and his longtime companion, Didi Davis, Kimberly Cordima and Harry Ashe; grandchildren, Trevor and Morgan MacRae, Brianne and Hannah Cordima, Matthew Derman and Max Cullen. He also leaves three sisters, Nancy Mack, Marie, wife of Phillip Rowe and Ann, wife of Robert Currier and many nieces and nephews.
Born in Cambridge on February 19, 1937, he was the son of the late Frank and Josephine (Arico) Cordima. He was a graduate of the Rindge Technical High School class of 1954. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served from 1954 and was honorably discharged in September of 1958.
He was a graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic and received his degree in 1963. Dr . Cordima practiced chiropractic for 47 years in Cambridge, Arlington, Watertown and Medford. He served as President of Cordima Chiropractic Health Services, Inc. and President of For Better Body Balance, Inc.
Dr. Cordima was instrumental in the licensing of chiropractic care in Massachusetts, which was enacted on June 28, 1966 by Governor John A. Volpe. He served as the Assistant Legislative Agent for Massachusetts Chiropractic Society 1964-1966. He was the President of the Greater Boston Chiropractic Society from1970 -1972. Dr. Cordima also served on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Chiropractic Society for 6 years and as Secretary for 6 years. He was also an accomplished pilot, having earned his license in the mid 1970’s. Dr. Cordima was an avid fisherman, with a love of music, singing, dancing and acting.
His memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 19th at the Cruiseport Gloucester, 6 Rowe Sq. Gloucester at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. There are no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923 or the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 1123 Washington Street, Gloucester MA 01930.
