Obituary

Mr. Michael Piazzolla, age 93, of Arlington, died Saturday, March 5, 2011, in Burlington, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center after a very brief illness. Born in Boston, Michael was the devoted son of the late Annie (Misseri) Piazzolla and Salvo Piazzolla.

Michael was raised and educated in Cambridge on Cogswell Ave. He graduated from Cambridge Rindge and Latin and after a few years he joined the US Marines, proudly serving in World War II from Nov. 1943 to June, 1944. After being discharged Michael worked as an installer for the General Electric Company, installing turbine engines, retiring late in the 1960's. He was married to the late Lorraine (Cotter) Piazzolla, who died in the mid 1990's. Michael was a good neighbor and friend who enjoyed gardening, watching Boston Celtic Games. He was an avid fisherman and sportsman.

Michael was the beloved husband of the late Lorraine (Cotter) Piazzolla. Brother to the late Lillian Frongillo, Salvatore Piazzolla and Angelo Piazzolla. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and some very good friends.

Funeral from the McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Wednesday at 9 AM. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge St. Winchester at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Arlington.
