Jeanneane Whiddon Spradley, 71, of Tifton died at Tift Health Care following an extended illness on Saturday, March 5, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2011 in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Dr. Wayne Roe will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Bennett Chapman, Paul Spradley, Charles Robinson, Chuck Robinson, Danny Phelps, and Mark Hasty will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Joel Johnson, Dr. Brent Savelli, Dr. Morris Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Paulk, Mrs. Audrey Walker and members of the Merle Bowen Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Tifton. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be gathering at Mrs. Spradley’s home at 1614 Tyson Avenue.
Mrs. Spradley was born on February 5, 1940 in Tift County and was the daughter of Roy Tillman Whiddon and Mildred Cheek Whiddon, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Emmett Spradley, Jr., to whom she was married on January 24, 1958; two brothers, Robert Jackson Whiddon, and Roy Nelson Whiddon. A graduate of Tift County High School, she was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and a member of First Baptist Church of Tifton.
Mrs. Spradley is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Tim Mitcham of Tifton, and Sherrie and David West of Pinehurst; one son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Susan Spradley of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Charles Robinson of Merritt Island, Florida; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul and Jackie Spradley of Tifton, two sisters-in-law, Judy Whiddon of Tifton and Marjorie S. Bergman of Phoenix, Arizona; brother-in-law, Bennett Chapman of Hilliard, Florida; five grandchildren, whom she adored, Eric and Katy Mitcham Jackson of Cuthbert, Jamie Mitcham, Christopher Spradley and Sara Spradley, all of Tifton.
