LeBlanc, Ralph Louis, Youngest son of Louis Cesar Le Blanc and Blanche (Gagnon) Le Blanc of Isle Madame, Nova Scotia, who emigrated to East Boston. Ralph was born June 10, 1920, in East Boston. He graduated from Mechanic Arts High School and was certified in architecture at the Boston Architectural Center in 1942. He also studied architecture at MIT from 1943 to 1948, with a hiatus to serve overseas as a cartographer with an engineering unit during World War II. His career as an architect in Boston spanned half a century, during which time he worked in several partnerships and also in his own office. He worked initially for David J. Abrahams of Boston and with Irving Salsberg (Salsberg & Le Blanc, 1951 to 1967). His later firms, Ralph Louis Le Blanc & Associates and ESO (Environmental Systems Organization), his partnership with Bernie Goba and Harry Egan, were based for many years in Coolidge Corner. He operated from a private office at home in Hull in the 1980s and 1990s. His work, based primarily in the Greater Boston area, included original construction and renovation of private homes, hospitals, and public buildings, including the design of the original theater in round for the North Shore Music Theatre in 1955. Other works include the original design for the Hilton Hotel at Logan Airport, the Belkin House at the Faulkner Hospital, the renovation of a public school building to create the Athens Condominiums in Weymouth, the branding design for Garber Travel, and the extensive rehabilitation and renovation project of historic Queechee Village in Vermont. He lived for many years in Brookline, Newton Centre, Hull, and Weymouth, as well as a summer home in Oak Bluffs, Martha Vineyard. He was a member of the education committee at the Boston Architectural Center, a member of the board of directors of the Coolidge Corner Merchants Association, and the advisory committee of the Town of Brookline. He passed away Wednesday, March 2, at home in Roslindale. He had been successfully treated for multiple myeloma for over five years but chose to forego harsher treatments when the disease became more aggressive in recent months. He is survived by Eleanor (Pillion) Le Blanc, his wife of over fifty years; son Einar Yves Le Blanc and his children Alexandra and Ethan, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; son Edmond Cesar Le Blanc and his wife Sibel Kocabasi of Lake Worth, Florida; and Ondine Eda Le Blanc and her partner Karen Warkentin of Jamaica Plain, Mass. Memorial Gathering will be at the First Church in Jamaica Plain on Saturday, March 12, from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. Please bring memories and photographs but no food. In lieu of flowers, donations to honor his memory may be sent to the Union of Concerned Scientists, an organization whose mission Ralph supported throughout his life.
