Doris A. (Johnson) Barrett, 83, of Dartmouth died Friday March 4, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital after a period of declining health. She was the wife of Norman J. Barrett.
Born in Somerville, the daughter of the late Holgar V. and Adelaide (Boggs) Johnson, she lived in New Bedford, Florida, and Dartmouth for most of her life.
Mrs. Barrett was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Dartmouth Veterans of Foreign Wars. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, gardening, playing cards, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchhildren. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.
She is survived by her husband; her daughter, Deborah A. Barrett of Dartmouth; her granddaughters, Rachel A. Lamontagne and Jennifer B. Peters and her husband Alfred; and her great-granddaughters, Callie B. Peters and Rachel L. Peters.
She was the sister of the late Holgar "Bee" Johnson.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 10 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Friends Cemetery, Dartmouth. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-7 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
