METHUEN — Edyth "Edie" M. (Marsland) Malbon, 84, of Methuen, died peacefully Friday afternoon, Feb. 18, 2011 surrounded by her family.
Edie retired from Western Electric where she had worked as an assembler, however, she was most proud of being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Edie loved to sew, knit and crochet making many wonderful homespun crafts for family and friends. Edie attended Marsh Corner Community Church and enjoyed volunteering in the office while she was able to do so. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
The widow of the late Irving "Buddy" Malbon, who died in 1984, Edie is survived by two of her daughters, Kathleen (Cutter) Hernandez of Derry, N.H. and Brenda Swett and her husband Frank of Methuen; a sister, Ada Matey of Methuen; and two brothers-in-law. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, a great-great grandson, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Edie was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela in 1973; sisters, Norma Buchan and Bernice Siegel, two grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
A memorial service was held on Monday February 21st in The Marsh Corner Community Church,Methuen. Arrangements were by The Charles F. Dewhirst Funeral home, 80 Broadway, Methuen.
