TEWKSBURY: Harvey F. Hopkins, age 90, a Tewksbury resident for over 60 years, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington.
He was the beloved husband of Anna M. (Blois) Hopkins, who passed away on February 3, 1994.
Harvey was born in Providence, RI on October 10, 1920, the son of the late Willis and Theodora (Brown) Hopkins.
He was raised in Lowell and graduated from Lowell High School in 1938.
In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during World War II in the American Theater.
Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was employed as a power sub-station operator by the New England Power Company, where he worked for 35 years.
Harvey was an active member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church of Billerica. He served his beloved church in multiple capacities especially as a member of the choir.
Mr. Hopkins was an avid reader and also enjoyed stamp collecting. In addition, he had a love of woodworking especially for making wooden toys, which he donated to his church for their annual fair.
Harvey is survived by three sons, Michael J. Hopkins and his wife Yvonne of Hollis, NH, Mark F. Hopkins and his wife Shirley of Richmond, VA and Stephen A. Hopkins and his wife Cynthia of Bedford, MA; one sister, Lois Karacius of Sutton, MA; eleven grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hopkins was the brother of the late Carolyn Small and Richard Hopkins.
Calling hours Sunday, March 6, from 2-6 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 7, at 1 p.m., at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 14 Treble Cove Rd., Billerica.( At the request of the family there will be no procession from the funeral home, kindly meet with them at church). Interment to follow at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Anne's Episcopal Church, c/o Memorial Fund, 14 Treble Cove Rd., Billerica, MA 01862.
