Constance M. “Connie” (Volta) Richardson, age 72 of Brockton died unexpectedly Thursday March 3, 2011 at Signature Healthcare/Brockton Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel A. Richardson. Connie was born in Brockton, a daughter of the late Ernest “Spinney” and Annette (Landry) Volta and remained a lifelong resident of the city. She received her RN degree at Massasoit Community College and had been a registered nurse at the Brockton Hospital for 32 years. She was an oncology nurse specialist for many years and then transferred to A5. She also co-facilitated a women’s support group for breast cancer at the hospital. In her free time Connie enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening and trips to the Cape. She had been a longtime communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church.
She is survived by her five children Daniel P. Richardson and his wife Sharon, Paula A. Randall and her husband Arthur, Donna M. Rondeau and her husband Richard, Annette M. DiMillio and her husband Mark and Gregory E. Richardson and his wife Karen, ten grandchildren Bryan and Aaron Richardson, Jesse Darling, Daniel and Christopher Rondeau, Phillip DiMillio, Mark Lacouture, Ava and Kate Richardson and the late Nicholas Richardson, three great grandchildren Lexis, Talan and Landen. She was the sister of Ernest “Bud” Volta of Brockton and the late Theresa Derouen, daughter in law of Lillian Richardson of Brockton and the late Daniel G. Richardson and sister in law of Lea Merrion of Raynham and John Derouen of Taunton.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday 4-8pm. Funeral procession will form at the funeral home Tuesday at 8am with a Funeral Mass in Christ The King Parish 42 Wendell Avenue, Brockton at 9am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
