Catherine (Perry) Lopes, 91, of New Bedford died March 4, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Thomas A. Lopes.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John and Dominga (Duarte) Perry, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Lopes was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She was employed in the deli at S.S. Kresge's until her retirement.
Mrs. Lopes was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid reader who enjoyed singing, dancing and music as well as going out to eat with her family.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Lopes and his wife Maria of New Bedford; 4 daughters, Patricia Horner, Leonora Tourinho, Dolores Tavares and her husband Steve and Deborah Ramos and her husband Lenny, all of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Daniel Perry and Anthony Duarte, both of New Britain, CT; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late John R. Lopes and the sister of the late Edwin Perry, Arthur Perreira, Josephine Ramos, Alice Perry and Christine Perry.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Wednesday, March 9th at 8:30 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday, March 8th from 4-8 PM.
