Obituary

DAVIS, CHARLES RICHARD, 50, originally from Louisville, died at his home in Pensacola, FL on Friday, February 25, 2011.

He graduated from Eastern High School in 1978 and became a firefighter at Lyndon Fire and Rescue. He met and married Cindy Jett in 1989, and together they had a beautiful daughter, Shelby Lynn.

Richard achieved a major goal in life when he received his Private Pilot's License in 2002. He retired from Lyndon as Battalion Chief after 21 years in the fire service and moved his family to Pensacola where he started another career. He was hired at the Pensacola Airport as a ramp agent with Primeflight and later by DGS, where he held the position of ramp supervisor/trainer for Delta. Richard enjoyed his job and the friends he made while working there but his greatest joy was his daughter. Richard also enjoyed golf, bowling, NASCAR and always loved cooking for his family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charles W. Davis, sister, Cindy R. Gatlin, and stepfather Orville D. Foster.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cindy, and daughter, Shelby Lynn, his mother, Virginia L. Foster, brother, D. Scott Davis, many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Hwy., with cremation to follow. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Friday.
