Nelma Sylene Peacock, 84, of Tifton died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at a Macon hospital. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. John Cone will officiate with burial to follow in Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 3, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Peacock was born on January 12, 1927 in Shelby County, Alabama and was the daughter of John Franklin Ashmore and Georgia Ann Armstrong Ashmore, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Hollis Peacock, Sr.; one daughter; two brothers; and one sister. She was a former substitute teacher with the Tift County Board of Education.
Mrs. Peacock if survived by three sons, William “Bill” Peacock of Moultrie, Gary F. Peacock of Jacksonville, Florida and Noel W. Peacock of Tazewell, Tennessee; one daughter, Mary Ann Ethridge of Tifton; one brother, T. L. Ashmore of Lake Sinclair; three sisters, Beulah Graham of Saint Louis, Missouri, Nelta Clark of Moultrie and Delora Jean Hall of Tifton; eleven grandchildren, Lori Sadler, Corey Peacock, Gary Wayne Peacock, Mandy Roberts, Noel Wade Peacock Jr., Jannelle Zachery, Edward Weisner, Haley Ethridge, Hannah Ethridge, Stephen Reynolds and Brandon Peacock; and seven great-grandchildren, Luke Sadler, Landen Roberts, Ashley Nineger, Callista Nineger, Gavin Nineger, Will Pollard and Brandon Reynolds.
