Betty Dickson Logue, age 86, a lifetime resident of Woburn, died on March 2, 2011. She was the wife of the late Dr. Paul E. Logue who died in 2002. They were married for 56 years. Born in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late Roland G. Dickson and Julie Shea Dickson. She was the sister of the late Roland G. Dickson, Jr. and the late Louise Dickson Morgan.
She was educated in Woburn and graduated from Woburn High School with the class of 1942 where she was class historian. She was on the committee for the 65th class reunion in 2006. She attended Boston University and graduated from Forsythe School for Dental Hygienists in Boston in 1944 where she was class President and Valedictorian of her class. After graduation, she was employed at the dental office of Dr. Frederick Trevor in Melrose.
She was married at St. Anthony’s Church in May 1946 after Paul returned from World War II. She and her husband lived in Philadelphia for four years while he attended Temple Dental School. After his graduation, they returned to Woburn in 1950 where Dr. Logue practiced dentistry for forty-four years. They lived for 56 years in the home they purchased in 1950, in the central square area where they raised their seven children. She was a volunteer at the former Choate Hospital and also taught Christian doctrine classes in her home for the neighborhood children attending St. Charles Borromeo Church. Her children’s friends have many fond memories of being welcomed into her home. Later in her life, she returned to work as office manager at her husband’s dental office until his retirement in 1994.
She is survived by her children Anne Stevenson and her husband Kenneth of Newburyport, MA; Maureen Logue of Alexandria, VA; Kathleen Iannacchino and her husband Peter Salzberg of Bonita Springs, FL; Julie Jillett and her husband James of Rowley, MA; Paul E. Logue, Jr., and his wife Nancy Solie of Jefferson, GA; Jane Keay and her husband Stephen of Hampstead, NH.; and Thomas Logue and his wife Andrea of Hampton, NH. She is survived by 16 loving grandchildren six great grandchildren as well as the late Jason Stevenson (age 12).
A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday, March 7th at St Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn at 11:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with internment at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
