Caspar S. Hawes , Jr., 89, of High Street, Central Falls, a truck mechanic, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at the Veterans Medical Center in Providence.
Born in Cranston, he was the son of the late Casper S. Hawes, Sr. and Ada B. (Vittum) Hawes. He had lived in Smithfield until moving to Central Falls in 1991. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists. Mr. Hawes had worked at White Truck in Providence before retiring in 1984. He was a WWII US Coast Guard veteran and had served in the Pacific Theatre.
He is survived by his children: Kenneth S. Hawes of Lincoln and Darlene F. Hawes of North Providence, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Cheryl P. Poirier and brother of the late Dora Sousa, Virginia Stevens and Naida Neri.
Funeral service Friday at 11 am in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial with Military honors in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation Friday morning 9-11am.
