Delta S. (Nee Simpkins) Gallup, age 97, formerly of Oxford, PA, passed away Monday February 28, 2011, in the St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington, DE.
Born on March 14, 1913, in Morrill, KS, the daughter of the late Clarence and Lola Paty Simpkins, she was raised a Christian with the traditional values of loyalty, honesty and hard work. Delta worked for the Blue & White Diner, Frank’s Steak House, Oxford Hotel, Traymore Hotel, Schaeffer’s Restaurant and the Red Rose Inn. She was a gentle, kind and caring woman who gave her best to all and was loved by all.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Catherine C. Powers and husband George, her grandchildren, Donna Carr, Lisa Gallup, Penny Blanch and husband Dan and Amanda Powers and her great grandchildren, Cody Gallup, Jennifer Elville and John Elville, her sisters and brother, Cordell Leid, Doris Prewitt and Odell Simpkins and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hibbard V. Gallup (1984), her son, Larry Gallup, her sister, Lottie Simpkins and her brother, Kirtie Simpkins.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 10-11:00am at the Ruffenach Family Funeral Home 224 Penn Avenue, Oxford, PA. Services will be held at 11:00am. Burial will follow in the Oxford Cemetery.
