Ouida Pridgen Roberts, 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, 2011, at 11 AM at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7 until 9 PM at the funeral home.
Ms. Roberts was born November 25, 1925 in Fitzgerald to the late John Edward and Willie Mae Oakes Pridgen. She graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1943 and the College of Medical Arts in 1978. Mrs. Roberts moved back to Fitzgerald in 1969 from Brunswick. She was a former employee of Public Health Home Health in Fitzgerald. Ms. Roberts was a member of Arbor Baptist Church. She was a member of the PTA, Garden Club, Elks Club and a Pink Lady at Dorminy Medical Center. She enjoyed playing bridge, reading, cross word puzzles and attending church.
She is survived by her children: Richard & Robyn Hightower of Perth, Australia, Beverly & Bill Luke of Atlanta, Jeff & Debbie Hightower of Myrtle Beach, SC and Beth & Calvin Eichner of Neptune Beach, Fl; 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; sister: Dorothy Paulk of Fitzgerald as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, J.R. Hightower, Jr. a brother: Edward L. Pridgen and sisters, Vermont Whitehurst, Johnnie Mitchell, Billie Ruth Allen and Iris Sidwell.
