Worcester- Mrs. Jeannette C. (Solomon) Hashem, 94, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 24th at the Notre Dame Long Term Care Center, Worcester surrounded by loved ones.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Especially close to her were her caretaker and niece, Amy Hurley and her husband, Michael, of Worcester, MA, her nephew George Alwon, of Raleigh, NC, and her nephew Floyd Alwon and his wife Patricia, of Needham, MA.
She was predeceased by her brother Charles Solomon. She was also predeceased by her uncle Nicholas Alwon, who lived with her and was under her care for over 20 years.
Jeannette was born January 14, 1917 in Worcester, Massachusetts a daughter of the late Elias and Victoria (Alwon) Solomon. Jeanette was the wife of the late George Hashem who predeceased her in 1971.
Jeannette worked as a seamstress for New England Manufacturing for over thirty years. She was a parishoner of the former St Charles Borromeo Church in Worcester and also a member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish.
Jeannette enjoyed sewing, listening to her records, and traveling by car with her late husband, George. Jeannette loved entertaining and cooking Arabic food for family, close friends, and her wonderful neighbors.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday March 1st from FAZIO FUNERAL HOME, 9 Branch St. Worcester. Visiting hours will be from 9:00am to 10:00am Tuesday followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 341 June Street, Worcester at 11:00am. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
