Obituary

WEST BROOKFIELD; Edwin P. Dow, beloved husband, father and “Papa”, 84, of 62 Wickaboag Valley Rd., died Sunday, February 27, at Mary Lane Hospital in Ware.
He leaves his wife of 53 years, Mary B. (Bickford) Dow, a son, Peter E. Dow of Rockland, MA, two daughters; Susan D. Gillmeister and her husband William of Brookfield, Melinda J. Baker and her husband Donald of Northfield, MA, 11 grandchildren; Allison and Jessica Dow, Joseph, Emily, Daniel, Bethany, Thomas and Rebekah Gillmeister, Christina, Katherine and Sarah Baker.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of Percival & Ethel (Skinner) Dow and grew up in Leicester and lived in Rutland where he raised his family.
Mr. Dow was an attorney for over 53 years at Dow & Dow Law Office in West Brookfield and Worcester where he was still currently practicing law.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church of North Brookfield. He was an Army Veteran of WW II and Korea and was awarded the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars. He was a graduate of Worcester Academy, Clark University and received his J.D. at Boston University. He was a member of the Worcester County Bar Association, the Disabled American Veterans and the West Brookfield American Legion, Post 244. He served on the Worcester County 4H Advisory Council and West Brookfield Historical Commission. He was a lifelong conservative and a member of the Knox Trail Tea Party.
He was an avid sports fan and was recently recognized as the longest attendee of the Holy Cross football games. He enjoyed spending time with his family on the Cape and in Maine.
At the families’ request Funeral Services are private. There are no calling hours. Burial with Military Honors in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Winchendon will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of North Brookfield Building Fund, 144 North Main St., North Brookfield, MA., 01535.
